This course is designed to introduce students to the field of Animation, including 3D Modelling, Rigging and Rendering techniques using software such as Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D or other related 3D tools.

Duration: 6 Months

Course Objectives

The course intends to:

  • Develop competencies and skills needed for creating effective Animation Characters.
  • To develop expertise in life-drawing and related techniques.
  • To apply Audio and Video Production Techniques to an Animation Project. 

Course Content

Topics to be studied include; 

  • Getting started with a brief history Animation, Types of animation and the 12 Principles of Animation.
  • Creating 3D Animation using Maya, Cinema 4D or Blender.
  • Compositing animation in After Effects or Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Presentation Design Animation Transition.
  • Using the animation pipeline to create a full animation.
  • Character modelling and design, Rigging and animation.
  • 3D Modelling for virtual Reality using Blender, Maya or Cinema 4D.
  • 3D Texturing, lighting and Mapping.  
  • 3D Rendering using Corona, Arnold, and other forms of rendering engines.
  • Creating Motion graphics in 3D or 2D advertising.

Mode of Delivery

The course will be delivered through lectures, discussions and practical works which will be conducted in studio setting within and outside university premises.
