Kwabena Asomaning is a Ghanaian jeweller, designer, educator, and researcher with over two decades of experience in jewellery design, fabrication, and training. He is passionate about merging traditional Ghanaian jewellery practices with contemporary technological innovations to preserve cultural heritage while promoting modern craftsmanship.

Kwabena currently lectures in Jewellery Design and Fabrication at AsanSka University College of Design and Technology in Accra, where he continues to inspire the next generation of creative artisans. He is also the founder of Goldsense Jewelry, a studio that blends artistry and technology to produce exquisite handcrafted jewellery pieces rooted in Ghanaian identity.

His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to research and innovation. He is a PhD candidate in Museum and Heritage Studies at the University of Ghana, Legon, focusing on heritage and technological integration in jewellery. He also holds an MFA in Jewellery and Metalsmithing from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where his research explores the Akyem Abuakwa royal regalia jewellery components.

Kwabena’s professional contributions extend to national and international engagements. He serves as the National Secretary of the Federation of Ghana Goldsmiths & Jewellers Association, a member of the Black in Jewellery Coalition (Pennsylvania/New York), and a Fellow of the Global Art in Medicine Foundation. His active involvement in professional bodies such as the Rotary International District 9104 (Past President) and the Airforce Officers’ Mess Golf Club reflects his dedication to community, leadership, and cultural advocacy.

Beyond academia and jewellery, Kwabena enjoys sports such as lawn tennis, golf, and horse riding. His ongoing research on Contemporary Heritage and Innovation in Ghanaian Jewellery Fabrication underscores his vision to bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, ensuring that Ghana’s rich jewellery heritage continues to evolve in a technologically advancing world.
